Wien 1

Stephansdom Cathedral, Stephanplatz. What you see walking out the Stephanplatz U-Bahn stop. U-Bahn
is like a subway that goes above ground as well.

City Center street so pretty other streets
in the world feel embarrassed.
Lots of warm tones in Wien.
Busy street in City Center.
Interior of Demel Bakery. Got gifts
for friends that will never make it home.
Very heavy statue resting on two horse hoofs.
Statue on opposite side failed to do so.
Hofburg Palace resides in Wien's 1st district.
Exterior of Palace with Rathaus (City Hall) in back
Palace courtyard with clock, or sundial, on tower
Entrance facing Roman Ruins
Close-up of Entrance
Unfinished wing of Hofburg palace
Schloss Schonbrunn Palace Schonbrunn Palm House
Neptune's Fountain at Schonbrunn, summer
residence of Habsburgs in the 13th district.
The most beautiful thing I've seen in Vienna isn't a
building, but the Gloriette at Schonbrunn comes close.
Close-up of Gloriette in Schlossgarten (Palace Garden)
Church on Mariahilfer Str. (shopping street) Double headed eagle; Habsburg Imperial symbol
Refreshing break from rectangles
Architectural aesthetic of Vienna is
quite uniform, but this happens too.
Lots of fun places to eat when lost, especially in ruelles
Example of building in City Center where original
and restored parts are easily distinguishable
Terrace next to Hofburg Palace
Frequent building type in Wien.
Secession Museum, Karlplatz.
View from Albertina museum in Stadtzentrum (City Center)
Another view from the Albertina
Wien Staatoper (State Opera)
Auch
View from my room in the 17th district.
There are 23 districts in Wien.
Tramway stop at Burggasse Stadthalle
"I have often walked down this street before. But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before." These lyrics from My Fair Lady suggest that a change of perception, not of space, define the quality of our interaction with our surroundings. However, a unique element during travelling is always looking forward to waking up the next day. How often, in our everyday setting, do we actually enjoy getting up in the morning to go to school, work, etc?
That being said, we can go back to the line sung by a man who wanders a familiar street, suddenly beautiful because The girl lives there. The only way to solidify your bond to a place is to solidify your bonds with its people.
All drawings, pictures by me. No photoshop. Can't use it very well.
Tschuss! ww

  2. Hey Wenwen!

Good job on the amazing pics, I hope you are having a blast out there! :)

For the drawings - constructive comments (although I am not sure I am in position to say anything... :-P )

In the U-Bahn, the perspective looks a little bit crooked (but that is probably only due to the fact that it was a quick sketch ;) but in general, yeah it tends to be a bit skewed), but then again I adore the Schloss Schonbrunn Palace, especially the neat shadows and the soft colors you used to represent it! You must have so much fun just sitting there and drawing - needless to say i am jealous ;)

    Love you!
